Guru Rabindranath Tagore Again being Remembered By CBI

The Nobel Medallion of Guruji was stolen on March 25, 2004. It was stolen from Shantinekatan. Along with Medallion 47 other memorabilia were also stolen. There was a car of Guruji also but that remained there.

The above case was first investigated by CDI of West Bengal Police. Later, it was handed over to CBI. One Jiban Bagdi was arrested for stealing the Nobel Medallion. The CBI continued their investigations for three years but could not make any headway. On September 1, 2007, the case was finally closed.

However, now it is reported, that the CBI has found some further leads. It is about to apply to the local court to reopen the case. Further, it is also reported that Jiban Bagdi, the accused in the case, was murdered on September 11, 2008.

The police people say that it takes time for leads to come out which finally settle the case. There may be further investigations if the court allows.
